Flashed

Hello.

This’ll be short, but sweet.

Well, not so much sweet as… well, short.

Short-ish. Not quite flash fiction, at any rate. I always imagine that italicized, for whatever reason. Like the “flash” part is derogatory, in some way.

And any time I sit down and think I might try my hand at flash fiction (which isn’t too often, trust me) I often think first of writing something about a flash flood. Okay, okay, not just often. It’s every time. And I don’t italicize the “flash” in flash flood. Because I know (not first hand) what kind of damage those can cause, and you don’t get snippy with things that cause damage.

Okay, now I’ve just got to get it out, here goes, flash fiction, and how it usually goes, for me:

It was as if someone, some omnipotent, really large someone, came home, went to take a sip, found His coffee cold, and threw it, forcefully, down the gully. And His coffee had sticks and boulders and a sheep in it. This ruined Bill’s attempt to drink his own coffee, which his ex-wife had bought for him, poisoned, and dropped off on his doorstep.

And, of course, as I started writing this, what happened, but hail big enough to be used as ice cubes (only they’re not cubed, they’re more round) and rain that would dent your head started pouring down. So this will be my last flash fiction piece. Ever. Likely.

Still no progress on getting you decent content, except for the horoscopes, of course.
