I'll Die in Daylight

The giraffe was the so-called king of this jungle.

I say so-called because it was the giraffe, himself, who had anointed himself the king of the jungle.

Considering he kept largely to the plain, it was either a bold play or a genius move.

"You've got an incredibly scrawny neck for a king, you know," said a meerkat, one day.

"I haven't," said the giraffe. "Well, maybe a little. But it may be a symptom of being the king, rather than a pre-existing condition." He waved with a hoof, which was a big mistake, because it wasn't entirely clear what or why he was waving the hoof, and it almost resulted in him face planting on the plain.

Which is when the little rhino started crying, and everybody bolted for the forest. Even the giraffe.

disclaimer:

May 18th is a-here. Or hee-ya, as they say in some parts. We'll see you down at the Arlington Center for the Arts at 7:30 pm in the Gibbs Gallery.

So get your butt down there. And we'll see you there. Possibly. Seeing you there, of course, or maybe not "of course," you have no idea what we're talking about, so there's no way we could say "of course," right? What the heck are we talking about, anyway, bub?

Well, of course, we may not see you due to circumstances beyond our control. Flooding is one of those potential circumstances, of course, as the whole of the eastern portion of Massachusetts, in which Arlington resides, appears to be underwater. Thankfully, the new Sane Magazine compound, head offices, and future site to be sponsored by Dunkin Donuts Munchkins in Winchester, Massachusetts, which is also in the eastern half of the state, is not, at this time, flooded.

But the circumstance to which we're specifically referring, when we say "of course," is our fun loving, mess making, noise generating little monster/mascot of the Sane Magazine production line, heretofore known as "Squirt." It is he who decides when, where, and how we can do things these days. So who knows? We may see you there. Reading our little piece of fiction in waterlogged old Arlington, Mass.

If you had feelings about this week's issue, be sure to let us know how you felt. If your feeling isn't covered here... well, I guess you're stuck, then, aren't you?
Liked it.
Didn't like it.
Would have liked more references to bats.
I'd rather be boiled in vinegar.

Also, we'd like your take on the now missing Summary Feature (email subscribers can still access the summary for the current week's issue only and you can sign up here). How do you feel about the (now gone) summary feature on each issue?
I miss it.
Didn't use it.
What summary, you mean I can get away with reading less?
Don't miss it at all.
